One of the places I always go back to when I’m in Milan, several times, is La Salumeria del Vino in Via Sanzio number 4. Opened by Mr. Alessandro in 2005, it is the most ingenious, the most welcoming and the coziest deli in Milan, and maybe in Italy.

While your usual deli offers just a selection of delicacies that you buy, take away and taste at home, La Salumeria del Vino is an ecclectic space: a combination of a deli, a wine cellar, and a restaurant.
Alessandro makes sure that the wine, the delicacies and the meals are offered in a perfect harmony of tastes, smells and colors. Every bottle of wine at La Salumeria del Vino is matched with the perfect cheeses, smoked meats, pickled and grilled vegetables, sauces, marinades and spices.
Be prepared to spend a few hours at La Salumeria. You will be encouraged to try every product you want to buy here, and when you’re satisfied with your purchase, it’s time for a delicious lunch or dinner. The menu is extraordinary. Hearty soups, rich salads, fish and seafood, the most amazing sandwiches you’ve ever tasted, all washed down by a glass, or a bottle, of excellent wine.
What I love about La Salumeria del Vino is the fact that picky and finicky eaters like me are not only welcome, they are the typical customers of this little culinary heaven. It’s a perfect place for those who love indulging in the Italian art of cooking, eating, exploring and savoring – the pillars of la cucina italiana.
