Trentino is a real paradise for bikers. Bikes are environment-friendly and ideal to explore places off the beaten track. Trentino has an excellent network of bikeways, one of the best in the world: they are very safe and therefore perfect even for families with kids.
Emiglia Romagna got its name from Via Aemilia, an ancient road connecting Piacenza and Rimini. As you probably know, Rimini is a famous seaside and spa resort on the Adriatic coast, together with Riccione and Cattolica.
But Emiglia Romagna is not just beaches and nightclubs. Its skiing resorts are just as good, the most popular being Cimone, Corno alle Scale and Cerreto Laghi.
Bologna is the capital of Emiglia Romagna. A beautiful city and a cultural center of Italy with a prestigious university.
Friuli-Venezia Giulia (FVG) is a northern Italian region that borders on Austria and Slovenia. This region has everything – high mountains (the Alps and Dolomites) in the north, and beautiful Adriatic beaches in the south.
Veneto is situated in the north of Italy on the border with Austria, and its southern coast is washed by the Adriatic Sea. Veneto was named in 18th century after an ancient tribe that used to reside in the region.
If you’re a mountain lover, you will find yourself in paradise when you visit Trentino-Alto Adige. Its mountains are up to 3000 metres / 9800 feet high, and beautifiul hotels and cabins are cozily nested on their slopes.
The climate is typical for a mountain zone: Winters are very cold and summers are cool. Due to temperature inversion, less sunny valleys are often colder than higher areas.

After exploring the northern region of Valle d’Aosta, let’s discover its bigger neighbor, beautiful Piemonte. Piemonte (Piedmont), abbreviated PIE, is a peculiar name. It literally means “at the foot of the mountains”, which is absolutely true. Piemonte is surounded by hills and mountains, and in ancient times it was known as “pedemontium”.
Today I would like to take you to the North of Italy, to the smallest Italian region: Valle D’Aosta (VDA). Although it’s small and seemingly simple, I love it for its beautiful nature, delicious food and stress-free lifestyle. This beautiful Alpine part of Italy is a real wildlife sanctuary with a huge variety of animal and botanical species. Valle D’Aosta is also famous for its many castles and agrotourist farms which make it a perfect vacation spot when you need to escape the city and breathe in some fresh air. Let’s explore!
